The Jigawa State Government has engaged private Fulani veterinary officers to assist cattle breeders against cattle diseases in the state.
The Jigawa State Chairman of Miyettti Allah Kautal Hore, Malam Umar Kabir Hadejia, disclosed this while distributing vaccines to the engaged mobile veterinaries in Dutse, the state capital.
According to Hadejia, the state government has already acquired animal vaccines worth N2.2 million for distribution to the veterinary officers selected from various LGAs to assist their fellow Fulani against cattle diseases.
He said the project was to assist trained Fulani vets to acquire job and assist families in taking care of their animals.
He revealed that 15 Fulani vets were selected comprising four from Jigawa northeast and southwest and seven from northwest which shares border with neighbouring Niger Republic.

The engaged vets were given training, motorcycles and starter packs to enable them reach out to their fellow.
The Special Adviser to Governor Badaru Abubakar on Empowerment, Jamilu Mujaddadi, said the distribution of items was done based on merit, with the intention of assisting the Fulani cattle breeders in the state.
On his part, the Jigawa State director of veterinary services, Dr AbduIlahi Birniwa, charged the beneficiaries to work judiciously with the materials given to them.
Birniwa warned them not to conduct any inoculation on any animal without the knowledge of the relevant authorities.
He further cautioned them against selling the vaccines, which he said they would account on their operations monthly to the ministry.
