No fewer than 500 residents of Unguwan Rimi area of Kaduna State have benefitted from a one-day medical outreach organised by Malaria Control Programme in Kaduna.
The Programme Manager, Dr. Sule Danga, said the outreach was in continuation of the 2022 World Malaria Day (WMD) celebration in the state.
He said that the state’s ultimate goal was to reduce the number of people suffering and dying from malaria.

He added that “this requires a focus on research and on leveraging available evidence to ensure that our targeted interventions are on efficient use of resources, which produce measurable results.
“We also need to work on drug and insecticide resistance, as well as focus on new strains of malaria arising in the Region, which are more difficult to detect and treat.”
He identified improved sanitation and avoidance of stagnant bodies of water as other veritable means of controlling malaria.
Danga advised residents to fight malaria by preventing infection through the use of treated mosquito nets and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
He also urged residents to make deliberate and preventive efforts by keeping their environment clean, removing stagnant water and consistently using Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets and proper diagnosis before treatment.
The Rapid Diagnostic test was conducted for 149 males and 137 males, where
257 tested negative, while 29 were positive.
