Kaduna govt, Zipline secure approval to commence health supplies

The Kaduna State Government has announced that Zipline would launch operations in the state to commence health supplies using drones.

This followed the agreement signed between the state government and Zipline on February 3, 2021, for the distribution of medical commodities in Kaduna State.

This was disclosed by the Kaduna State Government via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

It stated: “On 3 June 2022, Zipline will launch operations in Kaduna State from its Pambegua hub, the first of three locations from which it will serve health facilities in Kaduna State.

“It has secured regulatory approvals to commence health supplies using drones, the first in Nigeria.

In February 2022, the Kaduna State Government, via its verified Twitter handle, quoted the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai as saying that the agreement would build on the state’s investments in primary health care and supply chain transformation in the health sector.

The stated government tweeted: Kaduna State Government and Zipline have signed a service level agreement for the distribution of medical commodities in the state.

“Nasir El-Rufai said the agreement builds on the state’s investments in primary health care and supply chain transformation in the health sector.

“Starting from 2015, KDSG has upgraded 255 PHCs and is recruiting 3000 officers to strengthen the sector. The state has installed a Pharmagrade warehouse, run by its health supplies agencies to ease the provision of medicines, consumables and vaccines to its health facilities.

“Zipline will add value to these KDSG initiatives by building distribution hubs in the state and using drones to deliver medical supplies.”
