An official of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Yau Inuwa, has returned two missing phones worth N4 million to the owner, Shiek Muhajiadina Kano, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Abdullahi, disclosed this via a statement on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
“Malam Inuwa has done the state proud when he handed over two missing mobile phones worth N4 million to the owner at the King Abdul Azeez International Airport Jeddah during the return flight to Nigeria,” Abdullahi said.
He quoted Kano as expressing gratitude to Inuwa for returning the phones to him.
Kano said he forgot the phones while waiting to be screened at the airport.
Kano said he left the phones on his seat, thinking they were in his pocket, when it was his turn to be screened, adding that he was alarmed when he discovered that the phones were not on him.

The owner disclosed that the mobile phones, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Promax, contain vital documents and information.
He added: “The airport security prevented us from going downstairs where we sat earlier, to find out if the phones were still there. They insisted that once passengers are screened, they can’t leave the boarding area.
“We were in a dilemma on what to do, then a Kaduna State Pilgrim Agency official approached us and declared that he found the phones where we had earlier sat before we were called for screening.”
Abdullahi said Inuwa is the Pilgrims Registration Officer of the Giwa Local Government of Kaduna State and the Jeddah Coordinator for the return journey.
He noted that besides the two phones, he also returned seven bags belonging to other passengers.
Speaking on how he found the owner, Inuwa said he saw a group of people lamenting over the loss of the items at the boarding area of the airport.
Inuwa stated that what he did was in line with his duty as a Hajj official, adding that pilgrims should watch over their belongings, especially passports, at the airport.
