Kaduna plans Film Academy, signs MoU

Kaduna Capital Territory Administration (KCTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture to establish a film village within the Kaduna International Trade Fair Complex.

The signing took place at the ongoing Kaduna Investment Summit. It was done by Mohammad Hafiz Bayero, the Administrator Kaduna Capital Territory Authority and other development partners.

The Kaduna Film Village upon completion will provide job opportunities to performing artistes, actors, cinematographers, writers, directors, make-up artists, cinematographers, audio-visual editors and others.

The KCTA Administrator, Hafis Bayero, said: “We are not building new structures, but we will look at the old structure to refocus them and turn it to something useful.”

He said that the complex has space for movie production, adding that a Film Academy will be established by the KCTA.

“What we need is to have a steady supply of technical hands in all aspects of film production.

“We will be setting up a Film Academy that trains people on top of the advance technology that is involved in modern day film making and Kaduna has the best landscape,” Bayero said.

He said the Authority will set up Kaduna City History Centre, as one of its heritage projects to document the rich history of the city.

On her part, the Administrator of Zaria Metropolitan Authority, Hajiya Balaraba Aliyu, called on investors to partner with it in setting up recreational centres and motor parks.

The administrator, who was represented by her Special Assistant, Abdullahi Lawal, assured of security of all investments in the area, as well needed infrastructure.
