The new Kano CP, who was transferred from Enugu State, was a former Divisional Police Officer, Hotoro Division in Kano.

There was uproar a few months ago when a news medium reported that Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, was lobbying for Kolo to be deployed to his state.

The opposition parties decry the move saying that Kolo was notorious for human rights violations and could be used for political ends.
