One of the terrorists who escaped from the Kuje Maximum Custodial Centre in Abuja, which was attacked last Tuesday, has been arrested in the Federal Capital Territory.
It was gathered that the fleeing inmate, identified as Suleiman Idi, was arrested on Monday by the Eagle eyed operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Area 1 motor park in Abuja.
The arrest of the terrorist was confirmed via a statement issued by the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, noting that the fleeing was nabbed while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State.
Babafemi stated: “When he was searched, three wraps of cannabis sativa were found on him.
“During preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confirmed he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges
“He added that he was indeed one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday.”
He further quoted the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), as directing that the arrested terrorist be immediately handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
The latest development comes barely two days after the Nasarawa State Police Command says it has recaptured one of the fleeing Boko Haram suspects, Hassan Hassan.
The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who made the disclosure via a statement issued on Saturday, noted that the fleeing Boko Haram suspect was recaptured by the Eagle-eyed operatives of the state police command at Keffi, headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
