KWASU matriculates 10,340 students

The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, on Friday, matriculated 10,340 students admitted to pursue their first Degree programmes across all the eight faculties in the institution.

Presiding over the 14th matriculation ceremony, the KWASU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh Lukman Jimoh, warned the new students against involvement in vices.

Jimoh, however, congratulated the new students for being chosen out of over 20,000 applicants that sought for the KWASU 2022/2023 admissions.

“Permit me to congratulate the matriculating students and their parents for their success in the rigorous process of admission which eventually culminated into their admission into this great citadel of learning.

”It is pertinent to state here that admission into KWASU should be seen as a rare privilege and a golden opportunity.

“Let me also sound this note of warning that KWASU has zero tolerance for all acts of misconduct,” he said.

The vice-chancellor stressed that the university will swiftly apply appropriate sanctions against any student found to engage in any act of misconduct in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations.

“I therefore admonish you to shun all acts of social vices such as improper dressing, cultism, examinatíon malpractices and violent demonstration.

”Also, membership of unregistered associations on campus, theft, armed robbery and other civil disturbances that may threaten the smooth running of academic actívities and calendar of the university won’t be tolerated,” Jimoh added.

He implored the matriculating students to familiarise themselves with the Students Code of Conduct, and all the existing rules and regulations of the institution.

“By way of emphasis, I want to remind you that the matriculation oath that was administered to you today, implies that you have willingly agreed to subject yourselves to all the rules and regulations of the university.

”I therefore advise you to constantly abide by the oath,” the KWASU VC added.
