The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Mustapha Lamido, says he has developed economic blueprint to make the state economically viable if elected in the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Lamido said the long-term economic plan would be geared toward turning around the fortune of the state in the next 35 years to make it economically stable.
Lamido, in a recent interview with BBC Hausa, said he would consult with relevant stakeholders to achieve his long-term plan for Jigawa State if elected as governor in 2023.
“We will collaborate with experts, traditional leaders, and religious leaders to to provide jobs to the youths.

“We want to put Jigawa State on the path of economic viability that will make it economically independent in 35 years,” he said.
Lamido, who is a son of former Jigawa State Governor and a PDP chieftain, said unemployment has been a disturbing issue to him.
He, however, promised to ensure that youths are engaged in Jigawa State through expanding existing industries and creating new jobs in the State.
The governorship candidate said youths unemployment, economy, education, and health would be his administration’s priority sectors if elected.
Reacting to critics who said he lacks the necessary experience for governorship position, Lamido said his pedigree, education, and learning politics early would give him an edge.
“I come from a political family. I learned politics from my father. In my first degree, second degree and third degree, I studied politics. I contested and lost senatorial seat in 2019,” he stated.
