The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jagawa State, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, has assured “an orderly, respectful and peaceful manner” political campaigns by the party across the state.
Lamido made the vow during his visit to the Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, in his palace on Tuesday.
Mustapaha is the son of former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido.
The governorship candidate, who said the “PDP will not be only urbane, but calm and issue-based” in all its political campaigns, promised to uplift the standard of the state by cooperating and liaising with the traditional institutions if elected as the governor of Jigawa State in 2023.
He further vowed to do everything possible to move the state forward, adding: “Jigawa needs something and someone new and committed to the development of the state and its people.
“Jigawa is what our grandparents had, it’s the land cherished by our fathers, we the children must love and develop it.”
In his reaction, the Emir of Kazaure described Lamido as his “son”, saying: “By your speech, you confirmed that you are my son and you relieved me as your father to further say anything more than what you have said.

“I am not receiving you as my guest, but receiving my own; you come home.”
Adamu further thanked God for “bringing us to the season of politics and it is the season of fear and trauma but seeing the calibre of people in your entourage and listening to Santuraki’s speech made me calm down, feel relief, and still have hope of sanity and positive expectations.”
The monarch, however, urged them to “be faithful, God-fearing, law-abiding, peace-loving people and be brothers keepers.”
He added that what still gives him hope in the candidature of Lamido was the transformation of Jigawa State during the administration of former Governor Sule Lamido, saying he hopes “such should repeat itself”.
The Emir further called for women’s inclusion in governance, noting that women need to be included, especially in contesting and winning elective positions.
