An Area Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced a man, Annas Inusa, to nine months imprisonment for stealing a wristwatch and a ring worth N25,000.
President judge Shawomi Bokkos sentenced Inusa after he pleaded guilty to the offence on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
The prosecutor, Inspector Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ Division Police Station Jos on May 20 by the complainant, Salisu Musa.
He quoted Musa as saying that Inusa stole a wristwatch and a ring from his chop.

The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
The judge, therefor, sentenced Inusa to three months imprisonment with a fine option of N10,000 for theft and asked him to pay compensation of N25,000 or spend six months in default.
