The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspects for allegedly killing a man, identified simply as Monday, over alleged cable theft.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in Lagos on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Hundeyin said the Alausa Police Division received information from a concerned member of the public about the case at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29.
“The informant said that at about 3:00 a.m. of the same date, he received a call from one of his brothers that one Monday had been lynched to death by some group of boys,” Hundeyin said.

“After Monday was beaten to stupor, the suspects used copper wire to tie his neck and strangled him to death,” the police spokesman added.
Hundeyin revealed that the corpse had been recovered and evacuated to the morgue at Mainland General Hospital in the Yaba area of Lagos for preservation and autopsy.
He further stated that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
