No fewer than 25 motorcycles were burnt by a mob in Lagos State on Thursday after the rider allegedly killed a pedestrian.
The burnt motorcycles were abandoned by their riders who flee the accident scene for fear of a mob attack.
The pedestrian, whose identity has yet to be ascertained, was said to have been accidentally hit and killed by a commercial motorcycle on Jakande/Isheri Road.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, noting that the motorcycle rider veered off the road and hit the pedestrian.
He stated that the pedestrian died on the spot she was hit by the Okada rider, causing a mob to attack nearby motorcyclists.
“Unfortunately, the pedestrian fell and died on the spot. People around decided to lynch the motorcycle rider but the police arrived at the scene in time and rescued the rider.
