Monarch’s brother, housewife kidnapped in Kano

Shehu Bello, a younger brother to the Village Head of Bari, Yariman Bari, alongside a housewife, Binta Abdulkadir, have been kidnapped in Bari village, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

It was gathered that the kidnappers stormed the village at about 11pm on Monday and whisked the monarch’s brother and the housewife away.

A resident of Bari, Suleiman Abdulqadir, told The Star that Binta’s brother was earlier kidnapped and later released by the gunmen.

“We are really sad about the issue because till now nobody has contacted the family,” he said.

When contacted, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said he was not aware of the incident.

Kano State is gradually witnessing increase in kidnap incidents in remote areas with occasional occurrence close to the city.

In the last few months, a mother of the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate was kidnapped in the outskirt of Kano, while a traditional ruler in Karfi village, Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State was abducted, and subsequently, a relative paying ransom on his behalf was kept at the den of kidnappers until a condition was met prior to his release.
