A yet-to-be-identified woman and her two daughters have been found dead in a shop in the Ijagun Okokomaiko area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the deceased locked themselves inside the shop for two days before their corpses were recovered.

A resident of the area, who craved anonymity, said the deceased were suspected to have been killed by generator fume.

“On Friday night, the woman locked herself in the shop with her daughters while the generator was on. On Saturday, someone passed by and still saw the shop locked with the generator on.

“On Monday morning, people were worried as there was an offensive odour around her shop. Then, the husband broke into the shop and he found the dead bodies of his wife and children. These bodies were found in the inner shop and the other extension was where the generator was placed,” he told Punch.

It was further gathered that the corpses were evacuated from the shop by the officials of the Ojo Local Government.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police were working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman and her two daughters.

“It has been confirmed that the incident happened last week,” Hundeyin added.

It was, however, gathered that the remains of the deceased had been buried according to Islamic rites.
