Mr Ibu: My village people wanted to kill me with poison

Veteran Nollywood actor, John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, says God restored his health after battling food poisoning.

Mr Ibu had disclosed that he battled an ailment which bloated his stomach due to alleged poisoning by his kinsmen.

Speaking in a recent interview with Vanguard, the 61-year-old actor said some people in his village tried to kill him twice through poison.

He, however, thanked God for restoring his health, saying he was fully back on his feet and already shooting a movie after being away for so long.

Mr Ibu said: “Everything that happened to me was actually perpetuated by people who hated me. A lot happened to me that time.

“I don’t have any brain anything. They actually said that I’m partially mad then. How I go crase? I dey craze!

“They were all happy when they heard I was in the hospital and their hope is that I’m not coming back. But God is good.

“After a while, I was off. But I’m back now. I’m back fully in the industry. I’m back now and ready to work. In fact, I’m about going to a location to shoot a new movie.”
