The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim opposition states, if Senator Umaru Al-Makura emerges APC National Chairman at the party’s National Convention.
The speaker made this known in Lafia at a news conference organised by a group, “Progressives for Umar Tanko Al-Makura for APC National Chairman”.
Abdullahi noted that Al-Makura in 2011, won the Nasarawa State governorship seat on the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) platform, which was without even a councillorship seat in Nigeria.
The speaker, represented by the House Majority Leader, Alhaji Tanko Tunga, said: “It was CPC that produced Senator Tanko Al-Makura in 2011, a new party then, that had no full structure on ground.
“It was Al-Makura’s CPC that merged with other political parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC) and it was the party that won the presidential election in 2015.
“If Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura is elected as the National Chairman of APC, the party will take over the whole country in future elections,” he said.
The speaker assured Al-Makura of their support at all times to enable him succeed.
He urged APC members to support the aspiration of Al-Makura to lead the party and to take it to greater height.
The speaker also called on Nigerians to continue to support the APC government at all levels to enable it to succeed.
Earlier, Mr. Makpa Malla, the Convener of the group, also appealed to Nigerians to support Al-Makura to become the next chairman of the party.
