NDLEA arrests 20-year-old woman for drug dealing, nabs 9 in Abuja

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Hasana Usman, with 25 blocks of Cannabis Sativa weighing 28.2kg in Bauchi State.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, June 9, 2024, disclosed that the woman was apprehended by the anti-narcotic officers on patrol along Ningi-Kano Road in Bauchi State on Wednesday, June 5.

 

He said the NDLEA operatives also nabbed Ali Mohammed, 42, along Kano-Potiskum Road in Yobe State with 19,000 pills of tramadol 225mg concealed in a black sack and the suspect’s travelling bag.

Babafemi further revealed that nine suspects were arrested by the operatives of the anti-drug agency during a raid in the Toaabora hills area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Saturday, June 8, with 83.01kg of cannabis recovered from them.

Babafemi added that the NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Kalgo-Birnin Kebbi expressways in Kebbi State, on Saturday, June 8, arrested a 32-year-old Nigerien, Hassan Mummuni, with 4,000 pills of diazepam and 1.250kg cannabis concealed in four pesticide tanks.

He said the anti-narcotic officers, on the same day, arrested Ibrahim Abubakar at Herwagana in Gombe State with 6,740 pills of tramadol and 20,000 tablets of diazepam.

The NDLEA spokesman disclosed that 57-year-old Oladimeji Samson was arrested in a commercial bus at the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway with 79 blocks of Cannabis Sativa weighing 44.4kg and 48 grams of ecstasy, all concealed in the engine compartment under the driver’s seat of the bus.

Babafemi said 17,980 pills of tramadol and other opioids were seized from a 36-year-old suspect, Ali Isiaka Mohammed, following his arrest at Ganaja village in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Commending the anti-narcotic officers for the arrests and seizures, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), noted their drug supply reduction efforts balanced with War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities and charged them and their compatriots across the country to maintain the zeal and tempo.
