The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a six-month pregnant lady, Amarachi Akaolisa, for allegedly dealing in illicit substances in Anambra State.
The 25-year-old pregnant woman was arrested alongside a 21-year-old lady, Ifeoma Iheanyi, and four other suspects for drug dealing in Oraifite and Umuni-Evili, Aguleri, Anambra State.
Others arrested by the NDLEA operatives were Okwuchukwu Chukwuka, Onyedika Ngwu, Ekene Hyginus, and Nzomiwu Ikechukwu.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
Babafemi disclosed that over six kilograms of cannabis, tramadol, diazepam, and codeine syrup were recovered in raids conducted by the officers of the anti-drug agency between Tuesday, February 6, and Thursday, February 8, in some parts of Anambra State.

He noted that two ladies, Boluwatife Adebayo and Omolade Fola Adebayo, were among the suspects arrested during raids in some parts of Lagos on Saturday, February 10.
He said Adebayo was arrested along with Ogah Sunday Adole in the Ikeja area of Lagos in connection with 220grams of cannabis, 10.6 litres of codeine syrup, and other psychotropic substances, while Omolade was nabbed in the Ijesha area of the state with various quantities of cannabis, codeine syrup, Rohypnol, and molly.
The NDLEA spokesman added that a 27-year-old suspect, Ejike Moses Nmenme, was arrested on Tuesday, February 6, with 25,190 capsules of tramadol and different quantities of Rohypnol and codeine syrup along Emir Road in the Sabon Gari area of Kano.
Babafemi stated that the duo of Yusuf Abdullahi Musa and Yusuf Musa were also apprehended at Gadar Tamburawa with 1,000 ampoules of tramadol injection on Thursday, February 8.
He, therefore, quoted the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), as commending the anti-narcotic officers for the arrests and seizures and urging them and their compatriots across the country to always strive to surpass past feats in their drug supply and demand reduction efforts.
