The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 26-year-old woman, Obasanmi Esther Iyanu, for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The woman, who allegedly produces and distributes skuchies, was arrested during a raid on her hideout in Osogbo on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Sunday, March 10.
Babafemi disclosed that 16.5 litres of the illicit substance and different quantities of molly and cannabis were recovered from Obasanmi during the raid.
He added that eight suspects were arrested on Friday, March 8, after the NDLEA officers raided the notorious Karu abattoir drug joint in Abuja with 51.3kg of cannabis recovered from the suspects.
He identified the arrested suspects as Buhari Muhammadu, Jamilu Muhammed, Abubakar Wappa, Yahaya Tasiu, Ezekiel Mulanda, Abba Haruna, Habibu Umar, and Shamsu Lawali.

The NDLEA spokesman further disclosed that two suspects – Pam Thomas, 45, and Stephen Nyam, 38 – were on Monday, March 4, arrested with cannabis weighing 611.428kg at Zawan in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Babafemi stated that the officers of the anti-drug agency also intercepted a commercial bus coming from Onitsha in Anambra State to Zaria in Kaduna State on Wednesday, March 6, along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway where a total of 8,580 pills of tramadol and exol-5 were seized from a 40-year-old suspect, Yusuf Abdullahi.
He added that the anti-narcotic operatives, on Tuesday, March 5, raided some locked-up shops at the new market in Enugu and recovered 371.42kg of cannabis and 9.49 grams of methamphetamine.
Babafemi quoted the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), as urging the anti-narcotic officers nationwide not to rest on their oars as they continue to intensify their drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction activities in the country.
