The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recovered 3,672 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa and arrested five suspects in Kaduna State during separate raid operations in the state.

Two suspects, Edward Emmanuel and Miracle Madu, were arrested at a warehouse at Rido village on Wednesday with 298 bags of cannabis weighing 3,576kgs.

Also, other suspects, 29-year-old Sunday Bassey and 14-year-old Jessica Daniel, were nabbed with 96kgs of the same substance at the Gonin Gora area of the state, while 30-year-old Sanusi Isah was arrested on Saturday at the Giwa area with over 12,000 tablets of Tramadol 225mg and Diazepam.

The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this via a statement issued on Sunday.

Babafemi stated that investigations revealed that the consignment was moved from a southern state to Kaduna in a petroleum product-bearing truck.

He noted that the NDLEA operatives, on Saturday, intercepted a 40-year-old man, Kabiru Abdulhamid, with 119 blocks of C/S weighing 73kgs at the Semugu area of Kano State.

Babafemi revealed that a suspect, Amechi Moses, was arrested in a follow-up operation on Friday following the interception of 29,800 tablets of Tramadol 225mg in a commercial bus along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State while going to Aba, Abia state.

In his reaction, the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers of the anti-drug agency for the arrests and seizures.

Marwa also charged them and their compatriots across the country to intensify the heat on drug cartels in Nigeria while balancing their efforts on supply reduction with drug demand reduction activities.
