The statement further quoted the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, as saying: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
“The appointment is with immediate effect.”
Labbadia becomes the 37th head coach of the Super Eagles after the resignation of former boss Finidi George.
The former Ajax forward, who was appointed as the coach of the country’s men national team on April 29, was reported to have resigned as the Super Eagles coach on June 15.
The ace winger, who had overseen two Super Eagles games since his appointment, spent 20 months as assistant to Jose Peseiro before the Portuguese voluntarily left the post after guiding the team to a silver medal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
He, however, hinged his resignation on the decision to effect changes to the team’s technical crew.
