Niger deputy governor loses wife

Zainab Garba, the wife of Niger State Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, has been confirmed dead.

Zainab’s demise was announced via a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Ibrahim quoted Niger State Governor Umar Bago as expressing sadness over the death of the deputy governor’s wife.

Bago described her death as a great loss to Niger State.

“It is indeed devastating news and a trying moment, not only for my deputy, but the government and the entire people of the state,” the governor said.

He urged the deputy governor to see the demise of his wife as an act of Allah and be consoled by the fact that she lived a good life.

“The Niger State Executive Council shares in your loss and will provide every needed support at this moment of grief,” he said.

Bago prayed to “Allah to forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and grant her Aljannat Firdausi.”
