NMDPRA: Dangote refinery’ll supply 25m litres of petrol daily

Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has disclosed that the Dangote Oil Refinery and Petrochemicals will supply 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market daily commencing from September 2024.

NMDPRA said the Dangote refinery will increase the petrol supply to 30 million litres daily from October 2024.

NMDPRA disclosed this in a statement shared on X on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

“The refinery is now poised to supply an initial 25 million litres of PMS into the domestic market this September. And will subsequently increase this amount to 30 million litres daily from October 2024,” it stated.

The latest development is coming after the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, announced that the 650,000 barrels per day refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State has commenced petrol production.

Speaking in a live broadcast on Tuesday, Dangote said as soon as the refinery finalises modalities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the product will hit the market.

‘Celebration day’: Dangote presents first petrol sample at refinery

He said: “As soon as we finalise with the NNPCL, our product will start going into the market.

“We will help to restore industry and manufacturing. We will begin real import substitution, which is what we have, you know, saving foreign exchange, earning foreign exchange, which will stabilise the naira, and it will also help bring down inflation and cost of living.

Dangote added that the product would meet local demands and the demands of sub-Saharan Africa, saying: “It’s a celebration day for Nigerians. Nigerians are now going to have good petrol while the engines of your vehicles will last longer. You will not be having an engine issue, which a lot of us were having. It won’t happen at all.

“The quality here will match that of anywhere in the world; U.S., America, we will make sure that nobody will beat us in terms of quality.”
