The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has lost his 25-year-old daughter, Fatima Kyari.
Fatima’s death was disclosed in a condolence message posted by a former aide of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, on X on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Ahmad disclosed that Fatima died on Friday morning.
He wrote: “Deepest condolences to Mele Kyari, OFR, the GCEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, on the passing of his 25-year-old daughter, Fatima Kyari.
“She passed away on Friday morning and has since been buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites. Allah ya jikan ta!”

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima has condoled with the family of Kyari over the loss of his daughter.
Shettima, who prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, asked God to grant the family members the “strength to bear the painful exit of their daughter, who was in her prime”.
The Vice President led other mourners at the funeral prayer, held at the Annur Mosque in Abuja on Friday.
