Lawmaker representing Agege I State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been re-elected as Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly.
His election on Tuesday makes it the third consecutive terms Obasa is elected Lagos Speaker.
Obasa will lead the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly. He was the Speaker of the Assembly during the 8th and 9th Assembly.
Obasa, the longest serving member of the Lagos State Assembly, was re-elected based on the nomination by Member-elect Temitope Adewale, representing Ifako-Ijaiye I. The nomination was seconded by Member-Elect Sylvester Ogunkelu of Epe II State Constituency.
The immediate past Chief Whip of the State Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Meranda, representing Apapa I State Constituency, was nominated by Member-elect Desmond Elliot (Surulere II). The nomination was seconded by Member-elect Tijani Suraju (Ojo II).
Both Speaker and Deputy Speaker were elected unopposed.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu issued the proclamation for the 10th Lagos State Assembly on Tuesday.
The Governor during his address urged the members of the Lagos State Assembly to work for the progress of Lagos State.
