The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has declared that the party won the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Obi said he will prove Labour Party won the just concluded presidential election to Nigerians, adding that he will explore all legal means to recover his mandate.

The former governor of Anambra State said this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

“Labour Party won the election and I will prove it to Nigerians.

“I will challenge this rascality for the future of the country.

“On this issue (presidential election) I am challenging the process.

“The court exists for this and they have asked me to go to court and I will be going to court,” Obi declared.

The LP presidential flag-bearer, who observed a one-minute silence for all injured and killed during the 2023 elections, said himself and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, remain committed to a new Nigeria.

“We will work for that new Nigeria that is possible.

“Datti and I remain committed to that new Nigeria,” Obi added.

He further assured Nigerian youths that he will not run away from the country, saying he will stay and work for a new Nigeria.

The former governor stressed that the 2023 presidential election did not meet the minimum standard for a free and fair election, adding that the poll will remain as the most controversial election conducted in Nigeria.

Obi, therefore, expressed his appreciation to
his supporters, particularly the youths, known as ‘Obidients’, urging them not to be deterred by the result of the 2023 elections.

Others at the press conference were the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure; and the Director-General of Obi’s presidential campaign, Akin Osuntokun; among others.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday, announced that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, won the election with the majority of votes cast across Nigeria.

Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 6,984,520 votes.

Obi had 6,101,533 votes to come third, while the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, garnered 1,496,687 votes to occupy the fourth position.

Of the 36 states and FCT, Tinubu, Obi, and Atiku won 12 states each while Kwankwaso won only Kano State.

The 12 states won by Tinubu were Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Benue, Rivers, Borno, Zamfara, Jigawa, Ondo, Kogi, and Niger.

Atiku won Taraba, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Yobe, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe, and Katsina states.

Obi won Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Delta, Edo, FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Lagos, and Cross River states.
