The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has reiterated his love for trading, disclosing that he became a banker by accident.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, stated that he had since been a trader, noting that he built a branch of Savannah Bank in Nsukka, Enugu State as a businessman and student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).
The LP presidential flag-bearer recalled that he was living with the current Sultan of Sokoto, Saa’ad Abubakar, who was then a younger army officer in Nsukka.
He said this at a meeting with some youths on Wednesday.
Obi further stated that the present situation of Nigeria requires a leader to negotiate the citizens out problems.

The presidential hopeful said everything about governance is trading, stressing that governance requires a good trader who can negotiate well.
Obi said: “Everything about governance is trading; the negotiation and all the bilateral talks with and between countries, agencies, contractors or workers are trading and governance requires a good trader who can negotiate well.
“Where we are in this country now requires a leader to negotiate us out of our problems.
“When I say I will negotiate with agitators, it’s from my background that you must accommodate everybody into your shop whether he is buying or not and decipher who is a customer and a passerby.
“Even in my passport it’s shown that I am a trader, but some said I should be a banker because I was the chairman of a bank but I became a banker by accident.
“How did I become a banker? I went to the bank for a transaction and there was a mix up in my account and I raised my voice in anger and the manager said they should close my account and in anger I decided that I will use the profits in my business to buy shares in that bank and I did that until I became the highest shareholder.”
