Obi to Fani-Kayode: You’re attack dog, living on public funds

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said he would not respond to the attacks on him by the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Obi, who described Fani-Kayode as “an attack dog” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said he would only respond to the actual 2023 presidential candidates, not their proxies.

The LP presidential candidate said this in a statement issued on Friday by his campaign media office, Obi-Datti.

The statement read in part: “Peter Obi is a Nigerian trader leading the movement for the new Nigeria of our dreams. He made a modest income and created wealth by doing legitimate business.

“He was Governor of Anambra State between 2006 to 2014 and left office with unprecedented track records yet unchallenged, both in infrastructural development, accountability, and investment to earn him the award of Governor of the Decade.

“Obi has a traceable history of both origin and educational career, Obi has a message of competence, capacity, and character in leadership which he flaunts. He has no trace of narcotics to warrant his visiting either Ghana or Europe for rehabilitation to be stable enough for public office.

“What FFK wants us to do by his question is to re-highlight to the public who the candidates are. Thus we are proud and eager to do this because we have good products and are very ready to take them to market.

“Now that we have answered Fani-Kayode’s question on who Obi is and has been, we challenge him to tell Nigerians who his candidate is, his origin, antecedents, what he did before coming into politics, his criminal records, and his source of income before and after governorship.

“Obi has never hidden that he was into trade and commerce since his undergraduate days which his classmates can attest, but Fani-Kayode’s principal has no classmates even though he claimed to have gone to some schools.

“We understand Fani-Kayode’s struggle to be relevant in the system for survival, when he migrated to the APC, he thought he would get the attack dog job for the party ahead of 2023. That bid was lost, but he is now trying to show presence by attacking Peter Obi.

“Today’s Nigeria needs a man who, from selling tomatoes grew to become the youngest Nigerian to be Chairman of a post-consolidation bank, who became a governor and remains relevant almost a decade after leaving office, not an economic parasite who knows little about growing and developing the economy and only lives by acquiring and spending public funds.”
