Some affiliates of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Abuja, including banks and government ministries and parastatal agencies, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, adhered to the directive by the NLC to embark on a two-day nationwide warning strike.

It was gathered that some of the offices were under lock in compliance with the NLC’s directive.

It would be recalled that the NLC, last Friday, said it would commence a two-day nationwide warning strike from September 5 to September 6 over the effect of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

The union also threatened to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike after 14 working days or 21 days.

However, a few workers were on ground at some of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

Also, at the Radio House, the gate was locked as this prevented officials from going inside the premises.

Some filling stations in the nation’s capital were also closed in compliance with the NLC’s directive.

Some banks in Abuja which were seen closed include Access Bank, First Bank, and Union Bank, among others.

Some were also open to customers but were not as busy as the usual days.
