Popular Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has vowed to take legal actions against banks in Nigeria after his name was used by online fraudsters to scam people on social media.
He said the “banks allowed someone to open an account in the name of PETER OKOYE PSQUARE without valid means of identification”.
Peter, who is a member of the singing duo P-Square, alleged that the banks allowed the online fraudsters to use his name to open a bank account with no biometrics or Bank Verification Number (BVN).
He made this known via a tweet on his Twitter handle on Friday.
The artiste, who owns a lottery platform known as Zoom, alleged that the scam could be “an inside job or otherwise” by the banks.
Peter added that the online fraudsters have been using his lottery platform to scam people.
He tweeted, “Innocent people are being scammed under the name of my Lottery platform @zoomupyourlife And I am being accused of frauds and all! Because you banks allowed someone to open an account in the name of PETER OKOYE PSQUARE without valid means of identification, no biometrics or BVN.
“Nigerian banks this is pure evil! You allowed someone to open an account in the name of PETER OKOYE PSQUARE without valid means of identification, no biometrics, no BVN, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner. Suing this banks.
“How can banks allow someone to open an account in the name of PETER OKOYE PSQUARE without valid means of identification, no biometrics, no BVN, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond the address of the account owner. Suing and calling you banks out soon!
“I will soon call some banks out! It’s either it’s an inside job or otherwise! I have a name to protect here and save some of these victims! So get ready for me and my legal team!”
