Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced the dissolution of the boards of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state with immediate effect.
Okpebholo announced this in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
The governor added that all the permanent secretaries appointed from outside the public and civil service have been relieved of their appointments.
He directed the affected appointees to hand over all the government property in their possession to the most senior public officers in their respective MDAs in Edo State.
Okpebholo was sworn in as the fifth democratically elected governor of Edo State on Tuesday, November 12.
Edo governor suspends revenue collection
His swearing-in at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the Edo State capital, was graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shettima was joined by some governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC governors were Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), and Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), among others.
The APC National Chairman, Dr Umar Ganduje, and the senator representing the Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, were also present at the event.
Okpebholo took his oath of office alongside his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, at about 12:55 p.m., and thereafter rode in an open van around the stadium, waving to cheers from supporters.
