The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has alleged a threat to his life following the impeachment process of the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Oladiji said fetish objects were dropped at the entrance to his official lodge in the early hours of Monday, September 25, 2023, stressing that his life has been under threats from unknown individuals.
The Speaker added that the threats started after the lawmakers started the deputy governor’s impeachment process, calling on security agencies in the state to arrest the perpetrators.
He said these while speaking with journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Monday.
Oladiji said: “Very early this morning, when I was about going out, I saw an object in front of my lodge.

“These threats started since the day we started the impeachment process. I have been receiving strange calls.
“My life has also been under serious threat from unknown people. I want to call on the people of Ondo State and security operatives to track these people down.”
The Ondo Speaker further disclosed that the House has served Aiyedatiwa the letter of allegation signalling his impeachment process.
He stated that the deputy was served today (today) through a substituted service.
The House had, last Wednesday, during plenary session directed the Clerk to write the deputy governor on alleged gross misconducts.
Oladiji, however, said the lawmakers had been trying to see how to serve Aiyedatiwa the notice, but was unable to achieve it until it went through the court.
The Speaker said: “We got an affidavit from the court through substituted service, so he has been served through his office. It was received by his secretary.
“Although there are people sending me messages to suppress me; I am not under any pressure, except the threats. This is a legislative assignment.”
