One person has been confirmed dead while two others were severely injured in an accident at Mosalasi roundabout in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos State.
The incident was confirmed via a statement issued on Monday, April 24, by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq.
Taofiq noted that the victims were two males and a female, adding that the accident involved three vehicles – Mazda commercial bus (FKJ 88 XH), Tricycle (Keke Marwa KJA 369 QM), and a white Camry car (KJA 351 HG) – on main carriageway at the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos.
He stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Camry car lost control due to over-speeding and hit a commercial tricycle from the rear while the tricycle went off-balanced and obstructed another fully loaded Mazda commercial bus going to Iyana-Ipaja.

“Those rescued three accident victims were immediately rushed to different Hospitals by their relatives but, unfortunately, one of the rescued accident victims (male) reportedly died along the road to the hospital.
“Those vehicles involved in the accident were immediately removed from the road to avoid impeding free flow of traffic and handed over to policemen from Gowon Estate Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigations,” the LASTMA official disclosed.
Speaking on the incident, the LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, said the accident was a “man-made” accident which could have been prevented if over-speeding was avoided.
Oreagba noted that the government had embarked on regular public education on danger inherent in over-speeding by both private, commercial, and trucks’ drivers across Lagos State.
The LASTMA boss, however, warned motorists to always ensure that their vehicles are in good condition, particularly the break before driving them on Lagos roads.
