Evangelist Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has advised women to call for help when they are mentally, emotionally and physically abused by men.
Naomi made this known in her reaction to the death of popular gospel singer, Nigerian gospel singer, Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu, who died last Friday.
The Star had reported that the 42-year-old gospel artiste gave up the ghost on Friday after spending days at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.
Following the death of Osinachi, some colleagues of the renowned singer, well known for the hit song, ‘Ekwueme’, accused her husband of beating and maltreating the gospel singer.
This is just as a popular gospel artiste, Frank Edwards, further alleged that Osinachi’s husband abused her on several occasions.
However, Naomi, who announced the end of her three-year-old marriage with 47-year-old Ooni in December 2021, enjoined women to “cry for help if you have to”.
The estranged wife of the revered Yoruba monarch, in a post on her social media accounts on Monday, urged women not to die in silence while being maltreated, noting that “death is the end of hope”.
She wrote: “Woman, thou art loosed! (Luke 13:12)You have a right to say no.
“It is your right to be tired. You can put your hands in the air.
“Cry for help if you have to, say no even if the world can’t reason with you; because, in the grave they still will not.
“Don’t wait until death comes, in anticipation for a pity party, death is the end of hope.
“Are you hoping he would come to love you and respect you; stop mentally, emotionally and physically abusing you?

“If you die, that’s where hope ends, call for help, nobody is a saint, we are all work in progress.”
Evangelist Naomi continued: “Are you a perfectionist and you want the world to keep seeing the perfect side of you? Stop playing God.
“Let God be God and man be man, accept that it can’t work, if it won’t work.
“We always know it when it can’t, finally, quit seeking validation.
“May the soul of the departed rest in peace. Her song ministered to me alot of times and even now i say Ekueme!!!!!!! Rest my lady rest!”

The Star recalls that the 28-year-old Naomi on December 23, 2021, in a statement posted on her verified Instagram handle and Facebook page, announced an end to her three-year-old marriage with Ooni.
Evangelist Naomi, who got married to Ooni in 2018, had renounced the title of a ‘Queen’ after she announced the end of her marriage with the first-class Yoruba monarch.
She further stated that Ooni’s public perception is different from his true character.
The evangelist added that her decision to end the marriage has nothing to do with Ooni marrying another queen.
