Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on his emergence as Majority Leader of the 10th Senate, describing him as a fit and proper person to occupy the exalted position.
Oyebanj, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Wednesday, said he was confident Bamidele would discharge his duties as the Majority Leader effectively and bring additional value to the legislative and oversight functions of the Senate, as well as the good governance agenda of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The governor also thanked Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the leadership of the National Assembly for the honour done to the South-West and Ekiti State in particular with the choice of Senator Bamidele.

He said: “Senator Bamidele is very well prepared for the national assignment, giving his sound education, intellectual disposition, amiable personality and political sagacity as well as the public service and legislative experiences he had gathered over the years as a three-time commissioner in Lagos State, member of the House of Representatives and two – time member of the upper legislative House.
Describing the senator as a man of immense capacity, a great political mobiliser, and strategist with extensive contact that cut across different strata, Governor Oyebanji said he is convinced Bamidele would bring all these qualities to bear on his new role as Senate Majority Leader and work with other principal officers to build a highly effective 10th Senate that Nigerians would be proud of in terms of quality representation, coordination, cohesion, dynamism, and delivery.
Oyebanji, however, urged the lawmaker, whom he described as a “dear brother and friend”, to utilise the position to build harmonious working relationship with various tendencies in the National Assembly and between the Legislative and Executive arms of government, in the overall interest of the country.
