The governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship pimary election held on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
The chairman of the primary election committee and the governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, declared Oyetola the winner of the primary election in the early hours of Sunday at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The chairman of the governorship primary committee said Oyetola polled 222,169 to defeat his closest rival, the former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Moshood Adeoti, who garnered 12,921, while the ex-Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Lasun Yusuf, came third with 460 votes.

AbdulRazaq, who said Oyetola won in all the 30 local government areas of the state, added that a total of 408,697 voters registered in the APC primary election, while 247,207 voters were accredited to vote.
He further noted that the total vote cast and valid votes were 235,550.
In his remarks, the state chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, commended the committee and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the successful conduct of the exercise.
