Boko Haram terrorists, on Friday, shot at the Zone 1 Police Headquarters along BUK Road in Kano.
It was gathered that the insurgents fired several shots at the police headquarters at about 12:30p.m., causing panic in the area.
The gunmen were said to have left the place after the shooting.
A source, however, disclosed that security operatives have been reinforced around the police headquarters to foil a possible attack by the terrorists.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the terrorists arrived in vehicles at about 12p.m. and fired several shots at the building before they zoomed off to an unknown destination.
An eyewitness, who spoke to The Star, said: “Yes there was shooting at about 12p.m. and the road was sealed. It happened close to the time of Friday prayer.”
Another resident said although he heard people saying there was shooting in the area, but “I prayed inside the headquarters and I left with nothing happened.”
Another young man, who has a shop close to the police headquarters, said he couldn’t confirmed the number of vehicles but stressed that gunshots were heard around the area.
Recently, security operatives in Kano have intercepted improvised explosive devices being conveyed into the state from neighbouring states.
In the past, some terrorists were apprehended in outskirts of Kano by the security personnel.
Meanwhile, there was no visible changes when our reporter visited the area on Friday as every resident was doing their normal businesses.
When contacted, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the police would issue a statement if there was anything of such nature.
It would be recalled that the terrorists attacked the same headquarters on January 20, 2012, killing about 200 people.
Kano State alongside Jigawa are the only states in the North-West region of the country that enjoy relative peace among the seven states in the region.
