The students of Novena University, Ogume, in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, have been thrown into panic after a python invaded a female hostel in the institution.
It was gathered that there was pandemonium in one of the female hostels in the university on Monday after the snake was found on the bed of a student.
A source in the university disclosed that the students have vacated the hostel over fear of being attacked by the snake.
The source added that the python crawled into the university hostel and slept overnight on the bed with one of the female students.

“The snake crawled into the hostel and found its way to the bed. One of the female students who slept in the room screamed, which drew the attention of other students. As I speak, they have vacated the hostel,” the source said.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Emmanuel Odishika, said the “sacred” python belongs to the Ogume community.
Odishika added that students usually come across the snake, saying the python has never hurt any student since the establishment of the institution in 2005.
“We usually give students orientation whenever we admit new students; older students don’t panic because they are aware of it. We cannot restrict the snake’s movement,” the university spokesman added.
