Private Nigerian airline Air Peace has commenced its Lagos-London flight services.

Air Peace commenced the direct flight on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

The airline announced this in a series of tweets on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday.

It stated: “Today marks another significant milestone in our trajectory as a foremost airline as we launched direct flights to London, bringing to 7 our international destinations.

“This signals our entry into the European continent and further reflects our commitment to connecting cities.

“Lagos-London-Lagos service has commenced.”

Air Peace, in another post, said: “When our wide-body, luxury Boeing 777 took off earlier today enroute to London Gatwick.

“London service has commenced and we’re delighted to have achieved yet another feat in our drive to continually provide peaceful connectivity across cities.

“A big thank you to everyone that contributed to the success of this launch.”

Announcing the aircraft’s arrival in London, the United Kingdom, the airline wrote: “Our comfy Boeing 777 aircraft live at the Gatwick Airport, London.

“This means so much to us and reaffirms our trail-blazing status as a leading airline out of Africa.”

The commencement of the Air Peace Lagos-London flight services came a month after it announced plans to begin direct flight operations to London on March 30 during a prelaunch forum organised by the airline in February.

In November, Air Peace’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, announced that the airline had successfully obtained the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit and Third Country Operator Permit.

This means it is qualified to operate flights to Europe.

Present at the inaugural flight to London was the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anita; billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, fondly called Obi Cubana; among others.
