The first batch of Nigerians from the war-torn Ukraine arrived Abuja Friday morning from Romania.

They were conveyed by Max Air.

The 747-400 aircraft with Registration number 5N-HMM touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja by 06:11a.m.

Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed the arrival of the stranded Nigerians.

“First batch of Nigerians from #Ukraine arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja from Romania at 7:10a.m.,” she said on Friday.

Dabiri-Erewa had earlier tweeted: “Finally, first set of Nigerians (over 450 passengers) stranded in Ukraine on their way home, from Bucharest, Romania. Wishing them journey mercies.”

The capacity and routes of the airlines are as follow: Max Air to Romania, 560 persons; Air Peace to Poland, 365 persons and Air Peace to Hungary 360 persons.
