Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Sunday, met with Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The visit was disclosed via a statement issued by Sokinya’s media office.
A picture showing Igboho with the Nobel laureate and leader of Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Banji Akintoye, also confirmed the visit.
Details of the meeting were, however, not disclosed.
This is coming about five weeks after Akintoye announced the release of Ighoho in the Benin Republic.
Igboho’s counsel, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN), also confirmed the release via a statement he personally issued.
He noted that the Yoruba Nation agitator’s release was under the agreement that he won’t leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.

“I am to inform you that Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Igboho, has been released from prison to his medical practitioners under the agreement that he should not leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.
“Praises should be given to two prominent Yoruba personalities to wit: Prof. Wole Soyinka and Prof. Akintoye for this turnaround in our client’s matter,” Alliyu had said.
It would be recalled that Sunday Igboho was arrested alongside his wife on July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic while attempting to flee to Germany.
Sunday Igboho’s wife, Ropo, was later released while the embattled Yoruba Nation activist was returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
This came after the Beninese court ordered that Sunday Igboho be remanded in a prison facility in the Francophone West African nation while further investigations were carried out on the case against the agitator.
After being declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS), he was accused of stockpiling arms to destabilise Nigeria.
The Yoruba secessionist leader, however, denied the allegation.
