Police operatives have arrested three lawyers filing petitions for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the election petition tribunal in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

It was gathered that the lawyers were arrested on Friday night at a hotel in Port Harcourt, where they were preparing petitions against the March 18 governorship election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The reasons behind the arrest of the lawyers attached to the Tuduru Ede’s Chamber, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, have yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

The incident was confirmed by the APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has yet to speak on the lawyers’ arrest as of press time.
