Police arrest Man U player, Mason Greenwood, over alleged sexual assault

Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood, has been arrested by police on suspicion of rape and assault after his girlfriend, Harriet Robson, accused him on Sunday.

Robson, via her Instagram page on Sunday, accused the 20-year-old player of sexual assault and domestic violence.

She had shared pictures, videos, and voice notes on her Instagram account.

With blood flowing from her mouth down to her chest in a video, some of the pictures she shared also showed bruises on to her face, body and thighs.

However, Greater Manchester Police, in a statement issued on Sunday evening, noted that the Manchester United player had been taken into custody.

The police added that it would investigate the matter.

The statement read: “Greater Manchester Police was made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

“An investigation was launched and, following enquiries, we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.

Earlier, Manchester United stated that Greenwood has been suspended from training or play matches until further notice.

The suspension of Greenwood came after Manchester United stated that they are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media, adding that they would not condone violence of any kind.

The 20-year-old forward has made 24 appearances for Manchester United this season, scoring six goals.

Greenwood has a contract with the Red Devils until 2024 with an option to extend by another year.
