Suspects in connection with the missing money at the Katsina State Government House have been arrested by the police, The Star has learnt
It was gathered that Closed-Circuit Television captured the official stealing an unspecified amount of money at the governor’s office on Sunday night.
Insiders disclosed that the amount stolen was N31 million, although Governor Aminu Masari’s Director General on New media, Al-Amin Isah, failed to reveal a definite figure.
Isah confirmed to journalists that those suspected to be involved have been arrested by the police.
“Investigation has already commenced. But, I don’t know the amount alleged to have been stolen,” he added.
An official in the Government House said the image of a man captured by the CCTV installed at the Financial Controller’s office at the Governor’s office helped in identifying the suspect.

“The thief was seen on the CCTV at the Financial Controller office. He entered the office through the window. He was also seen leaving the office with a large sack which he kept the money inside,” a source said
The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, could not be reached for comments as he neither picked his calls nor responded to messages sent to him.
The Star had earlier reported that a government official in the state, in July, lost N61 million in a daylight robbery that occurred within Katsina town.
The Katsina State Police Command however suspected foul play in the incident.
