The Kogi State Police Command has asked the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to cancel her planned Eid-el-Fitr celebration rally in the state.
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, gave the directive in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, William Aya, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
“Following the intelligence report on security threats in Kogi State and the subsequent ban on all forms of rally and procession by the Kogi State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Police Command has called on the organisers of planned rally at Okene to cancel such event in the interest of the peace in Kogi State,” the statement read.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media office had, in a statement on Monday, said the Eid-el-Fitr celebration rally will proceed as scheduled.
The senator’s media team dismissed speculation about a possible cancellation of the rally, saying the office had made no such announcement and urged the public to disregard the rumours.

The media office stated: “We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central senatorial district will proceed as planned.
“Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit.”
This comes amid reports that the Kogi State Government is allegedly attempting to prevent Akpoti-Uduaghan from visiting her constituents.
The Kogi State Government had, on Monday, announced a ban on rallies and public gatherings, citing “credible security reports” in the state.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, who made this known via a statement, said the measure was taken to avert any security threats that could destabilise the state.
