Police nab 3 for beheading couple in Abia

The operatives of the Abia State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the beheading of a septuagenarian couple at Itumbuzo in Bende Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Chinaka said the police at the Bende Divisional Headquarters received a murder report at 08:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2.

She stated that the police were informed that 78-year-old Jacob Udo and his 73-year-old wife, Dorcas Jacob, were found lifeless in the pool of blood in their compound.

The police spokesperson noted: “Upon receiving this report, the crime scene was visited and corpses deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

“Three suspects were arrested in connection with the heinous crime and are currently under interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia.”

Chinaka quoted the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, as expressing concern over the gruesome murder of the couple and appealing to the people of the state to remain calm and law-abiding.

Isa also assured the residents of the state that the mystery behind the criminal act would be unravelled to ensure prompt dispensation of justice.
