The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has denied redeploying the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, ahead of the July 16 governorship election in the state.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known via a statement issued on Tuesday.
Adejobi stated that Olokode was never sacked or redeployed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba.
He noted that the Osun CP was temporarily moved to the Force headquarters in Abuja “pending the conclusion of the gubernatorial election when he would return to the state”.
He added that the police “want to be as transparent, professional and proactive as possible” in all engagements and operations in the Osun gubernatorial election.

The police spokesperson stated: “CP Osun was never fired or redeployed by IGP. CP Olawale Olokode was just temporarily moved to the Force Headquarters pending the conclusion of the guber election when he would return to the state.
“This is contrary to the misinformation making the rounds.
“We want to be as transparent, professional and proactive as possible in all our engagements and operations in the Osun gubernatorial election, hence the deployment of senior officers from the FHQ to oversee the election security in the state.
“The IGP has ordered necessary deployment both human and material assets to fortify the state for the exercise,” Adejobi said.
