The Nation newspaper correspondent, Toba Adedeji, was shot by a police officer in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Tuesday.
It was gathered that the journalist was shot in the thigh by one of the policemen deployed to disperse some protesters in the state capital.
A student, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was also injured by the police.

It was learnt that the incident occurred after some youths barricaded road at Olaiya bridge in Osogbo to protest the alleged killing of one of them, identified as Abiola.
Police operatives, deployed to disperse the aggrieved youths, were said to have shot into the crowd, injuring one of the protesters.
It was, however, gathered that the journalist shot by the police was later rushed to Osun State University, Osogbo for treatment.
