The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have prevented a 59-year-old man, identified simply as Yemi, from committing suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge in the state.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Friday, September 20, 2024.
Hundeyin disclosed that the man was stopped from jumping into the lagoon at about 12:00 p.m. on Friday by the RRS bike riders on routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge.

“The man, one Yemi, aged 59 of Ilasa, Lagos stated that he was overwhelmed by challenges,” the police spokesman added.
He quoted the RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, as counselling Yemi and directing the man be kept in protective custody pending the arrival of his family members.
